ABOUT THE HOOP ACADEMY DIRECTORS

Coach George Hardison

  • Director of the Hoop Academy since 1999

  • Head Womens' Basketball Coach at the college level

  • 2018-2019 - Team won the regional championship and qualified for the national tournament, 1st time in school history this has been done in back-to-back seasons, several All-Region and All Tournament selections, national All-Tournament Team selection and an All American selection; regional and district Coach of the Year for the second straight season.

  • 2017-2018 - Team reached the divisional Final Four, 27-5 Record, won regional championship, team ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation, several New England Region selections, divisional All-American selection, district and regional Coach of the Year.

  • 2016-2017- 12-11 Record, Several New England Region selections, divisional All-American selection.

  • 2015-2016- 15-10 record for, several New England Region selections, Region Sportsmanship Award

  • 2014-2015-11-5 Record, several New England Region selections, Regional Coach of the Year.

  • Assistant Coach for the Womens' Basketball Team at CCRI, NJCAA DII National Tournament Appearance in 2013

  • Head Coach with the Rhode Island Breakers AAU Girls' Basketball Club from 2016-2022

  • Head Coach with the Connecticut Storm AAU Girls' Basketball Club from 2006-2105

  • 2004-2011- Assistant Coaching experience at the high school level at Stonington, Westerly (RI) and New London

  • 2007-2008- Girls' Head Coach At Wheeler High School, State Semi-finalist

  • Master's Degree in Education

  • College playing experience at UConn-Avery Point and Southern Connecticut State University

Coach Colleen Hardison

  • Director of the Hoop Academy since 2009

  • Former Head Girls' Basketball Coach at East Lyme HS

  • Appeared in ECC and CIAC State Tournament

  • 2012-2013- Women's Assistant Coach at the Coast Guard Academy

  • 2011-2012- Womens' Assistant Coach at Rhode Island College, Little East Conference Champions, NCAA Tournament appearance 

  • Head Coach for the RI Breakers AAU Girls' Basketball Club from 2016-2022

  • Head Coach with the Connecticut Storm AAU Girls' Basketball club from 2009- 2015

  • 3 year Assistant Coach for the CT Starters, 2008 14U National Champions

  • College playing experience at Southern Connecticut State University (Conference Champions) and Western Connecticut State University (Team Captain)

  • High school playing experience- 1000-point scorer, MVP, All-State Honors, All-American Nominee

Coach Dan LaBelle

  • Director of the Hoop Academy since 2020

  • Head Girls' Basketball Coach at Chariho HS: 8-9 in league play, 10-12 overall in first season, made the playoffs

  • Former Chariho Middle School Boys' Basketball Coach

  • Played at UConn Avery Point in 2018

  • Team in the Region XXI Semifinal, falling to the eventual champion

  • Graduated from Chariho High School in 2016

  • Varsity player all four years 

  • Division III State Champions in 2014

  • Named to the WCCU Holiday Tournament Team, Tournament Champions in 2015

  • Earned Second Team All-Division 2A Honors in 2016

  • Qualified for the playoffs all four years of high school
